2015 Turkey Roll Bicycle Rally

There’s been good participation from the Cranks in years past from Dave, Joe Culatta and others; the last two years were rainy and cold so I figure we’re due for a nice day.  Date is 11/21/15, the Saturday before Thanksgiving.  A link to the signup is below.  It’s a fun ride with great support and VERY casual.   Lots of ride options available.

Jim Harris set up a team for the Coppell Cranks, which gets everyone a $5 discount.   Jim will be riding the 39 mile option, but depending on conditions, he may add or subtract.  The Metric Century usually has a barbecue at about halfway.

Let’s see if we can get a head count and make a day of it!

The Firefighter Ribfest was a Big Success

Our first "Cranking it Back to the Community" event, the Firefighter Ribfest, was a big success. We fed over 25 firefighters, Mayor Hunt, and many of the Coppell Cranks. Thank you to all of the Coppell Cranks who committed time and resources to help make this event a success. They include:

  • Tim Alderman
  • Kit Vinson
  • Jim Hampton
  • Jim Harris
  • Tim Mikus
  • Bill Pagels
  • Mike Schibelli
  • Carlos Siewczynski
  • Michael LaManna
  • Lowell Johnson

I would call that a show of force guys. Thank you to all of you for helping to make this a success,

Special thanks goes out to the following "Honorary Cranks":
  • Jay Khorrami (Deliman's Grill)
  • Dickey's BBQ
  • Robert Rantz

Jay provided 10 racks of ribs to the event, along with two commercial grills, and the use of his walk in cooler to store the food before the event.

Dickey's BBQ provided all of the beans

Robert Rantz took his personal time and flatbed trailer to help us move the grills from Coppell Deli to Kit's house for cleaning and prep, then to the firehouse for the event, then to the pressure wash for cleaning, and finally back to Coppell Delli to return the grills.

I hope that all of you will take a few moments to send a personal e-mail of thanks to the Honorary Cranks for their help:

Bike Tour Vacations

Cranks:

I was talking to a prospective client from Australia and he mentioned that often visited the United States when he did bike tour vacations. Of course I pinned him down on the details and here is what I learned:

They organize group and private bicycling tours all around the globe. I was blown away. I want me some. I hope you enjoy this site as much as I did.

Saturday October 10th - Firefighter Ribfest

Have you ever seen what 18 racks of ribs looks like in one place? It is heavy to carry.

We are on target to deliver our first ever.....

CRANKING IT BACK TO THE COMMUNITY
Firefighter Ribfest

Be there or be square

(now... if I can just cook all of these ribs without screwing it up. How hard can it be, right? I would hate to have to order pizza takeout for the firefighters after they had to hose down a grill full of burned ribs - the pressure is on. Or what if I give all of the firefighters botulism and they are all too sick to put out a fire? How crazy would that be? Do you think they would let us step in for them until they got to feeling better? Or what if they don't like the ribs and then later my house catches on fire and they refuse to put it out because I offended them with my cooking? Holy Crap, what have I gotten myself into? I think that I need a paper bag to breathe into.)
