Post HHH Recovery Ride

HHH 2019 Results

Ladies and Gentlemen....... The most exciting day of the year has finally arrived. No, it's not Christmas and it's not your birthday again. It is time to see the official results of HHH 2019. But before we do, let's take a look at a few photos...

Now........It's time for the moment you have all been waiting for....... The times

Just for the record, Helen Allen rode the 75 mile ride. Al Thibodaux rode the 100M but his chip didn't read properly.  Tom Hudon, Dave Buchard, and Kit Vinson also attended the event but we rode the 50 mile ride together. I have made the decision to only track the 100M and 100K on this blog.

The two newest Cranks that we have on the board are Bill Mugan and Sabir Kader. Very respectable times for you guys. Al Thibodaux said that his time was 5 hours and change. That is a VERY respectable time indeed. As good as all those times are I suggest to you that the dude that took 9:56:42 is tougher than all of your combined. Whoever can take that kind of abuse int eh saddle must be tough.

David and bill made fantastic time on the ride at 4:07 and 4:08 for 100K. They would have beat their 2017 times had they not been inclined to stay and visit with us at the last break station. But. it's not about the time, it's about the experience, and I saw those two having A BLAST!!!

Congratulations to everybody who participated. It was a GREAT day with overcast ALL DAY. I am not sure we could have ordered a better day for a long ride. The only thing better than the weather was the company of great friends, and of course, Walt's time.

WALLY, DID YOU THINK THAT I WAS GOING TO FORGET YOUR AWESOME TIME OF 5:17:26 FOR THE 100M - HOLY COW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This guy was on fire.

We were able to acquire some footage from the local TV station of the start of the race. When you view the recording at super slow speed, you can actually see Wally on his bike

Special shout-out to Tom and Dave who came in from out-of-state to ride HHH. It was a treat to ride with the flying frenchmen once again.

Hotter N Hell 2019

If you rode HHH 2019, send in your official time as soon as you get it. To be consistent,  we are only posting chip times on our blog page.

The Crank's very own Walt Berend probably broke his personal best this year with 5 hours and change. Send him your congratulations.

Laura and Carolina Ride with the Cranks

We had a few countries represented on the Crank's ride today. Laura from Mexico, Carolina from Poland, Sabir is from India, and Jorge is from Spain. It is truly an international group. Really, we even have a Yankee from New York, with the crazy accent and all. I know, right, we should be flying a United Nations flag or something.

05/25/19 - White House Ride

We had a FANTASTIC ride to the white house today. Helen and Philip were troopers on the long 45 mile ride. Plus, I was in charge of directions and everybody knows that I can't find my way out of a shoe box, but we made it.

2019 Ride of Silence

The 12th annual Coppell Ride of Silence will be held Wednesday evening, May 15th, at 7:00 pm.

The Ride of Silence occurs on the third Wednesday in May in cities all over the world to commemorate cyclists killed or injured while riding legally on public roads.  It’s ridden in complete silence and at a slow pace, around 12 mph.  There are no sponsors, no registration, and no fees.  Helmets are mandatory and all levels of cyclists are welcome.  Just show up and be a part of it.

The Dallas Ride of Silence that began it all in 2003 will be held the same evening at White Rock Lake.  With the death of Greg Dean on July 22, 2007 we wanted to hold a Ride of Silence in Coppell.  Our first was in 2008.  We have had additional injuries and accidents locally, including the death of Wade Livingston in 2016.  As any cyclist knows, the roads are increasingly dangerous and the need for awareness on the part of cyclists and drivers continues to increase.  This ride is for all those who have been injured.

The ride will start and finish at Coppell High School, 185 W. Parkway, Coppell, TX 75019 (one block west of the Denton Tap and Parkway intersection).  We ask that riders be lined up and ready to go by 6:45 pm.  After a short announcement and messages, the ride will begin at 7:00 pm.  It is an 11 mile course through Coppell and we should be finished by 8:00 pm.

The Coppell Ride of Silence will take part on city streets with no police escort so we will need to obey all traffic signals and stop signs.  We will split into smaller groups of around 20 riders so we do not impede the normal flow of traffic and we can safely get through intersections.  Ride Marshals (identified with signs on their backs) will be in each group to lead the way, and a support van from Bicycles Plus will follow the last rider.

Please join us in this demonstration of the importance of cycling safety and the rights of cyclists on the roads, and to honor those whom we have lost.
