Bill Pagels is a Granddad Again

Newest Crank Tears It Up in Muenster

Our newest member, Phillip Siebenmann, recently did his first big ride in Muenster on April 29th. Phillip JUST started cycling and is still in the process of gathering all of the necessary gear. He wasn't sure he could make it all the way, or if he could do the hills that the race is famous for, or if his bike would hold up for the entire race.

When asked about the race, this is what he said:

"Munster was great.  Towards the end I wasn't sure I was going to even be able to drive home.   I got clips which helped...but still either getting outbiked or don't use my gears right.  The hills weren't overwhelming and downhills were a blast..   I would do it again.  I can't fathom a 100 mile in the heat, though...Yall are crazy!"

We haven't seen Phillip since the race due to a sprained ankle, but Phillip promises to be back in the saddle with the cranks again soon.

When you see him on the cycle again, please remember to congratulate him on his first big ride.

Texas is #3 in Average Cyclist Fatalities

The state of Texas ranks #3 when it comes to the average annual death rate for cyclists. However, when you look at the per capita numbers, we drop down to #16.

11th Annual Coppell Ride of Silence

The 11th annual Coppell Ride of Silence will be held Wednesday evening, May 16th, at 7:00 p.m.

The Ride of Silence occurs on the third Wednesday in May in cities all over the world to commemorate cyclists killed or injured while riding legally on public roads. It’s ridden in complete silence and at a slow pace, around 12 mph. There are no sponsors, no registration and no fees. Helmets are mandatory and all levels of cyclists are welcome. Just show up and be a part of it.

The Dallas Ride of Silence that began it all in 2003 will be held that same evening at White Rock Lake. With the death of Greg Dean on July 22, 2007 we wanted to hold a Ride of Silence in Coppell.  Our first was in 2008.  We have had additional injuries and accidents locally, including the death of Wade Livingston in 2016.  As any cyclist knows, the roads are increasingly dangerous and the need for awareness on the part of cyclists and drivers continues to increase.  This ride is for all those who have been injured.

The ride will start and finish at Coppell High School, 185 W Parkway, Coppell, TX 75019 (one block west of the Denton Tap and Parkway intersection). We ask that riders be lined up and ready to go by 6:45 p.m. After a short announcement and messages, the ride will begin at 7:00 p.m. It’s an 11 mile course and we should be finished by 8:00 p.m.

The Coppell Ride of Silence will take part on city streets with no police escort so we will need to obey all traffic signals and stop signs. We’ll split into smaller groups of around 20 riders so we don’t impede the normal flow of traffic. Ride Marshals will be in each group to lead the way and a support van from Bicycles Plus will follow the last rider.

The HHH 2017 results are in!!!!!!

The results for the 2017 Hotter-n-Hell ride are in.  Click on the HHH Cranks Scoreboard above to see the times for 2017.

We have a first timer to the HHH from the Cranks this year and he came out of the chute with a stellar ride. MR TROY NAEF is our SUPERSTAR with a 100 Mile time of 5:40:58. WOW! He certainly didn't leave a lot of room for improvement.

A big CONGRATULATIONS go out to Walt Berend for completing the 100 Mile ride and for knocking 1 hour and 7 minutes off his time from last year.

Also a big CONGRATULATIONS goes out to David Scheller, Bill Pagels, and Mike Scibelli for completing the 100K ride. David knocked 17 minutes off his 2015 time. Bill and Mike knocked 18 minutes off their 2015 time.

GREAT WORK GUYS!!!!!
